EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — General manager Rick Spielman says he’s confident the Minnesota Vikings will solve their quarterback problem.
But Spielman also acknowledged Monday he has yet to “get it right” in regard to evaluating the position, at a news conference after coach Leslie Frazier was fired.
Spielman has had full charge of the roster for the last two seasons and been a chief decision-maker on the draft for seven years. He said he takes full responsibility for personnel decisions, which include picking Christian Ponder 12th overall in 2011.
The Vikings must figure out whether to bring back Ponder and Matt Cassel, who can also opt out of his contract to become a free agent. Then there’s the draft, where the team is likely to take a quarterback.
