EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Minnesota Vikings special teams coach Mike Priefer didn’t know that return man Coradarrelle Patterson is four yards away from breaking the team’s all-time return yardage record – set 28 years ago.
After Sunday’s season finale against the Detroit Lions, Patterson will likely end his rookie campaign leading the NFL in average yards per kick return and topple a longstanding Vikings record in the process. George “Buster” Rhymes tallied 1,345 return yards for the Vikings in 1985.
