Bleacher Report – Vikings

Rib Injury Puts Ponder’s Week Four Start In Jeopardy

Let the conspiracy theories begin! After two days with no news, the Vikings and quarterback Christian Ponder splashed onto the scene from London, England earlier this morning.

Meeting the media before their Wednesday afternoon practice, head coach Leslie Frazier shared that Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder will be limited in practice today with a rib injury and his status for starting this coming Sunday against the Steelers is up in the air.

Monday morning, Frazier met the media and only mentioned A.J. Jefferson, Jamarca Sanford and Chris Cook on the initial verbal injury report.

Ponder, who was reportedly injured early in Sunday’s game against the Browns, was able to throw lightly in warmups before practice but is most worried about contact that may come and impact the injured ribs.

Following the press conference, coach Frazier briefly chatted with KFAN’s Paul Allen and told him that there is no guarantee that Ponder will be able to start Sunday in London.

“If I can’t fulfill my duties, then Matt’s going to step in and play,” Ponder said during his media session.
