Minneapolis, MN – It’s tough to stomach the Vikings 0-3 start to the 2013 season and it may be even more difficult to sugarcoat the struggles. So what do we do when we’re not exactly sure what to say about an ugly situation? We let the players do the talking for us. After a loss the magnitude of Sunday afternoon’s, the players typically have a lot to say. This week was no exception.

Here are a handful of excerpts from today’s locker room session with the players…

JARED ALLEN – “Our two-minute drill is terrible right now. I’m not going to stand here and sugar coat it for you guys. We had an opportunity, they weren’t in the greatest field position, they got the ball at the 50 yard line and needed a field goal, but we gave them the touch down. Our two-minute drill is actually terrible right now and it cost us, in my opinion three games.”

BRIAN ROBISON – “It makes you more frustrated. Defensively, we always want the game on us. Even though we want the game on us, we’re not getting it done right now. We’ve got to figure out a way to get it done…It’s ‘Frustranger.’ Frustration, anger, strange feeling. It’s not a place we thought we were going to be in. Like I said, the only way to remedy it is to get a win next week…Bottom line is, we’ve got to go back to the drawing board and we’ve got to find a way to get a win this week. Whether it’s ugly, whether it’s pretty, it doesn’t matter. We’ve got to find a way to win.”

KEVIN WILLIAMS – “It’s tough. Today we had a game that we hoped we would win, and we let it get away in two minutes again. We were in a good position to win it and we just have to hold up our end during the end of the game…We need to finish. We need to finish the game. We cannot just play for a half, two quarters or three quarters. We have to play the whole game and finish.”

ADRIAN PETERSON – “Yeah, it definitely makes it more frustrating with those games you have right there in your pocket.  It’s frustrating, but we need to just regroup and bounce back.  We can’t let this direct us in a different path, so we need to just come back next week in London and get that first [win].”

CHRISTIAN PONDER – “We had it. Could have done some more things throughout every quarter, especially in the fourth quarter to secure victory and we didn’t do it. As a group we have to look at ourselves in the mirror and change this around quickly. We are going to make sure this doesn’t steam roll and snow ball downhill because this season is going to start moving quickly and we have the veteran leadership in the locker room to change things around. We just have to come to work and make sure the things are fixed.”
