Bleacher Report – Vikings

Rookie linebacker Michael Mauti activated, to make NFL debut

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Vikings rookie linebacker Michael Mauti will have come full circle from three major knee surgeries when he makes his NFL debut on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Mauti was inactive for the first two games at the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, but an injury to fullback/tight end Rhett Ellison likely helped his cause as he’ll be featured on various special teams units, including kickoff.

Bethel-Thompson, Raymond, Hodges, Baca and Johnson are all inactive for the third straight week. Hodges will watch his former Penn State teammate and seventh-round pick in Mauti make his NFL debut before him, despite being drafted in the fourth round. Raymond has been battling an AC strain in his shoulder, but has been listed as a full participant in practice all week and will be inactive again. The former starter is usurped by safeties Andrew Sendejo and Robert Blanton, who are core contributors to special teams.

The Browns inactives include quarterback Brandon Weeden, linebacker Quentin Groves, tight end Keavon Milton, defensive lineman Armonty Bryant and offensive linemen Shawn Lauvao, Martin Wallace and Patrick Lewis.
