Bleacher Report – Vikings

Kevin Williams returns, makes one change to Vikings' inactives

By akrammer@1500espn.com

CHICAGO — Minnesota Vikings veteran defensive tackle Kevin Williams will return from a hyperextension and bone-bruised right knee that has held him out of all but two practices since Aug. 25.

Williams, 33, hopes to bolster a defense that allowed a combined 283 yards to Detroit Lions running backs Joique Bell and Reggie Bush last Sunday as he sat out from injury for the first time since 2005.

The Vikings deactivate seven players every game to get down to the 46-man gameday roster. The only change from last week is defensive tackle Chase Baker, who is inactive for his first game to let Williams back into play.

Inactives vs. Bears

QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson
S Mistral Raymond
LB Gerald Hodges (R)
LB Michael Mauti (R)
G Jeff Baca (R)
DT Chase Baker
DE George Johnson

Safety Mistral Raymond is inactive for the second straight week after opening 2012 as the team’s starting safety alongside Harrison Smith. Raymond is currently battling a shoulder strain, but was listed as probable on the team’s injury report.

The Vikings again choose to roll with safeties Andrew Sendejo and Robert Blanton over Raymond, their fifth safety. Both Sendejo and Blanton start on multiple special teams units.
