Bleacher Report – Vikings

Guard Seth Olsen leaves final preseason game on stretcher

by Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings guard Seth Olsen remained down on the field for several minutes before being carted off after he was kneed in the head on the team’s final drive of the first half on Thursday.

Olsen appeared to go for a low block on a Tennessee Titans’ defender when he took the hit to his head. The entire Vikings team surrounded Olsen as he remained on the ground and was taken off on a gurney. He raised his right hand to acknowledge the crowd, and more importantly, note that he wasn’t paralyzed from the waist up.

The team’s medical staff left his helmet on, but removed the facemask before taking him into the locker room.

After the game, Olsen was walking around in the locker room and appeared to be fine. Coach Leslie Frazier said Olsen suffered a concussion.

Olsen, 27, re-signed with the Vikings for a one-year deal in March and figured to be the team’s swing guard in the event starters Charlie Johnson or Brandon Fusco can’t play.

The Willmar, Minn. native spent the entire 2010 season on the Vikings practice squad and was signed to a futures contract after the season and was released in the final cuts of 2011.
