Bleacher Report – Vikings

Vikings place Greg Childs on reserve/physically unable to perform list

The Minnesota Vikings made another roster move Tuesday morning, placing wide receiver Greg Childs on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

The decision means Childs is out until at least Week 6, but will be eligible to be brought off the PUP list after that.

Childs, who is recovering from two torn patellar tendons, spent training camp on the active PUP.

Childs’ rookie season was cut short when he leapt to catch a pass in the team’s intra-squad scrimmage last summer and ruptured both tendons that run down from the kneecap to the shinbone. He was selected by the Vikings in the fourth round of the 2012 draft.

For one of the first times since the injury, Childs ran routes in front of reporters during the team’s mandatory minicamps in late June. Then, Childs sounded optimistic about a potential return this season, but never practiced during training camp.

The move leaves the Vikings with 75 players on their roster. The Vikings cut their roster by 13 players on Monday.
