Game Preview: Vikings at 49ers

Head Coach Leslie Frazier and the Minnesota Vikings (10-6 in 2012) travel to San Francisco for their third preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers (11-4-1 in 2012) this Sunday, August 25. Kickoff at Candlestick Park is set for 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will be nationally televised by NBC.

Sunday’s game will mark the third preseason game of Frazier’s third season as a head coach. It will be the 8th time the Vikings have met the 49ers in the preseason. The Vikings are 3-4 in preseason games and 22-22-1 in regular season play against San Francisco. This will be the team’s third time traveling to San Francisco during the preseason.

Next Thursday the Vikings will host the Tennessee Titans at Mall of America Field, while the 49ers will head to San Diego to wrap up their preseason against the Chargers.

The Vikings added 32 new faces to the roster since the conclusion of the 2012 season. Along with 9 draft picks, the Vikings signed Desmond Bishop, Greg Jennings and Matt Cassel, in addition to 6 other free agents and signed 14 undrafted rookie free agents. The Vikings roster currently stands at 89 players.
