Mankato, MN – Training Camp 2013 is officially in the books and another season of Mankato shenanigans is now behind us. All-in-all a pretty boring camp for the Minnesota Vikings. There were no glaring injuries, no allergic reactions, no big fights and no off the field distractions…just the way that head coach Leslie Frazier likes it. Anyway, here are some of the news and notes items from the final day of Vikings Training Camp…

Representatives from the NFLPA make visit to Mankato…
The exact reason for the visit is unknown but it’s not out of the ordinary for NFPLA representatives to make trips to different training camps just to check in with players and get a feel for the camps. One of the three reps started his morning off talking to a dismayed Demarcus Love presumably about Demarcus’ pending four-game suspension. The trio from the NFPLA met with Jared Allen (Vikings player representative) and Chad Greenway (alternate representative) to discuss performance bonus pools and to take the general pulse of the team from the eyes of the players.

Jerome Felton, not the world’s biggest Forbes fan…
Earlier today, named the Minnesota Vikings fullback Jerome Felton The Most Overpaid Player in the NFL. Wednesday morning we had the delightful opportunity to inform Jerome of this dubious honor.

“I don’t pay attention to stuff like that,” Felton said after morning walkthroughs. “Each team does it individually, they judge themselves. Obviously Minnesota thought highly of me and I appreciate that confidence. I’m just trying to get better every day and I feel like my best football is ahead of me.”

Vikings tight end John Carlson also made the list coming in at number two. Yes that’s right, according to the publication that once named Kevin McHale the best general manager in sports, the Vikings have the two most overpaid players in the NFL (#Perspective).

Coach says Adrian Peterson will play in the preseason…but when?
Towards the beginning of camp, Adrian Peterson joined Paul Allen on the exclusive KFAN perch overlooking the practice fields and told KFAN that he wasn’t sure if he would see any time during the preseason. According to head coach Leslie Frazier, that’s not entirely true and we could see a glimpse at the MVP as early as this Friday in Buffalo.

“We have an idea of what we want to do [with Adrian],” Frazier said when asked about AP’s status this Friday. “We will talk about it after this practice and make sure we’re doing the right thing…we want to get him something these next couple weeks.”

Blair Walsh appears to be in mid-season form after booming a 63-yard field goal…
Doing his best to avoid a sophomore slump this season, Vikings kicker Blair Walsh has been pretty quiet so far in Mankato. That is until today when Walsh riled up the fans by kicking a 63-yard field goal that bounce off the crossbar and through for three. If the kick had been in a regulation game, it would have been a record.

Walsh spent the rest of the session kicking 7-for-7 on contested field goals and added two more with no defense from 57-yards.

Jennings/Ponder closer to getting on the same page…
We wrote earlier today about how Greg Jennings unique style of route running left Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder a little perplexed before they took the field (CLICK HERE to read that article). If Wednesday’s afternoon practice was any indication, Ponder seems to have figured out the trick to connecting with Jennings and his uniquely effective way of running. Ponder and Jennings connected more than any other QB/WR combo on Wednesday leaving Jennings to find his way into the end zone three times in the afternoon session.

Across the board, the offense is starting to click and if you were judging the final performance in wins and losses, the offense was winning today which is exactly what you want to see as you break camp and head back to the Twin Cities.
