Bleacher Report – Vikings

A dream realized, undrafted rookie Zach Line makes the team

by Andrew Krammer

Undrafted rookie fullback Zach Line had blood running down his nose and over the five stitches already in place. After catching a one-yard pass and romping for a 60-yard touchdown in his first ever NFL game on Aug. 9, Line remained grounded.

“(The stitches) at least tell my fiance I’m doing something at work,” Line said after the preseason loss.

His team went 1-3 in exhibitions, but Line won on Saturday when he made the team’s 53-man roster after totaling two touchdowns in four contests.

A product of Southern Methodist, Line’s college accolades (second all-time to Eric Dickerson’s rushing total) are well documented. But he caught a break when starting fullback Jerome Felton was suspended for the first three games of the season.

A new NFL policy allows Felton to attend team meetings during his suspension, so while Line takes Felton’s roster spot for three games, he can also learn under the Pro Bowl fullback.

Line is the only undrafted rookie to make the cut.
