Mankato, MN – As the Minnesota Vikings kicked off their first official walkthrough activities Friday morning, the team released roster moves that officially placed wide receiver Greg Childs and linebacker Nathan Williams on the Preseason Physically Unable to Perform list.

Childs, who tore patellar tendons in both knees during last year’s Training Camp, is not far away from returning to the field but precautionary measures will leave him sidelined until they get a better idea of what he can and cannot do from a football move perspective.

Williams underwent surgery on an injured ankle during the offseason and was hoping to be on the field as camp opened Friday. Head Coach Leslie Frazier said that when Williams arrived at camp he sat down with head trainer Eric Sugarman and the pair came to the conclusion that it would be best to take it easy and start camp on the PUP.

Unlike the regular season PUP List, players can return from the Preseason PUP List at any time. This flexibility also comes at a cost. The players on the Preseason PUP list will still count against the team’s allotted 90-man Training Camp roster. So until they are able to return, the Vikings will remain one wide receiver and one linebacker short during practice sessions (which is obviously nothing to be too concerned about).
